QA00000055897_Information needed for SIMULIA CST Studio Suite licensing support issues

Question:
What information should be collected for SIMULIA CST Studio Suite licensing support issues?

Answer:
For licensing support issues, please send the following information in your service request:

1. License status report created on the machine used as CST license server
(if a node-locked license is used, the machine where SIMULIA CST Studio Suite is installed is the license server).

Windows:
  1. Start → All Programs → CST STUDIO SUITE → CST License Manager
  2. Within the CST License Manager, press the button "Save Status Report", located in the lower right corner.
Linux:
  1. <CST-INSTALLPATH>/License Manager/cst_license_manager
  2. Select the option "Save status report" in the menu of the CST License Manager. If the license server has been installed manually, the cst_license_server tool won't be available. Please send the files "license.dat" (your license file) and "cst-lmgrd.log" (license daemon log file) in this case.

2. Screenshot of the Error Message.
Please provide screenshots of any error messages you encounter.

3. License Trace
Collecting license trace log files can help your support team diagnose licensing issues faster. The license trace can be activated and deactivated via the built-in macro "Macros → File → Registry Debug Flags".

For CST versions 2016 and older:

The license trace can be activated using either registry settings (Windows) or configuration file entries (Linux).

Windows:
Download the attached zip archives. The registry file contained in the CSTdebug-add.zip file will switch on the license trace. Apply it to the registry by double-clicking on the file. The debugging can be switched off by applying the registry file contained in CSTdebug-remove.zip archive to the registry.

Linux:
Please create the file "~/.config/CST AG/CST Debug.conf". Add the following lines to this file:

[2016]
DElog=1
CSTSettingslog=1
Modelerlog=1
Licensetrace=1

Please replace the version number in square brackets with the SIMULIA CST Studio Suite version number you're using.

Restart SIMULIA CST Studio Suite and perform the relevant steps that have caused the problem in the first place. Next, open your file explorer and navigate to the SIMULIA CST Studio Suite installation directory (e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\CST STUDIO SUITE 20xx" or "/opt/cst/CST_STUDIO_SUITE"). You will see DE*.log file(s) and possibly CSTSettings*.log and Modeler*.log file(s). Please send these log files with your support request.

To avoid unnecessary creation of log files, please deactivate the license trace after the problem has been resolved.
