What type of license servers does CST support and what is the current scope of CST with DSLS?

Answer:
CST Studio Suite supports two types of license servers:
  1. Traditional Flexnet (FlexLM) license server
  2. DS License server (known as DSLS)

DSLS is introduced for the first time in CST with CST 2021, i.e. CST 2021 has an option to select either FlexLM or DSLS.
 

 
This article explains the current scope of CST with DSLS:
  1. CST 2021 supports standard  DSLS,  i.e. DSLS installed on a single physical machine (Windows or Linux) or on a failover cluster of three physical machines.
  2. DSLS standalone installation is generally not supported on Virtual Machines (VMs) . DSLS on Hyper-V failover cluster is supported, but is yet to be tested for CST.
  3. Managed DSLS is supported.
  4. DSLS license is only available for commercial editions of CST
  5. DSLS license is NOT available for node-locked contracts (you must use Flexnet license in this case)
  6. DSLS installation needs licensing and admin port to communicate with client (by default 4085 and 4084 viz). If any process, Antivirus, Firewall blocks these ports may lead into an issue.
