CST Studio Suite Installation Guide

CST Studio Suite installation media can be downloaded from the DS media site https://software.3ds.com. This site requires you to login with your DS Passport. If you don't already have one, you can create one here. Note that CST Studio Suite is supported on select operating systems only. For the complete list of the supported operating systems, please see CST Studio Suite - Operating System Support.

Once logged in, all licensed software will be available to you. What you see may look different to that shown in the following slides, but they should still provide guidance to get to the media. Click on My Supported Software, then SIMULIA, then SIMULIA CST.

You will need to change the level to the Golden release and then download that appropriate media, for wither Windows or Linux. Note that the Windows installation guide is available once you unzip the downloaded file.




Right-click on the downloaded .zip file and extract it to an appropriate location on the client machine. Once the files has bene extracted, run setup.exe as administrator.


The Typical setup type is recommended.


At the end of the installation, you are prompted to configure licensing for CST Studio Suite without needing admin privileges, which would be the case if the first launch of CST Studio Suite is from the Start menu in Windows.

For licensing options, there are a few scenarios that apply. 

1. Flexnet licensing with the .DAT file where the license server and the client machine are the same. If your license file email contains a .DAT file, then your license type is Flexnet. Select the first option Import a Flexnet-based CST Studio Suite license file and click on the ... icon then enter 27000 for the Port. Then click OK. CST should open up without problem. 

2. Flexnet licensing with a dedicated license server and with one or more client machines. The license enrollment for the license server machine is the same as the scenario above. The client machine however, should adopt the following setting. Replace LICENSE_SERVER_NAME with the actual license server name at your company. The default port should be 27000 unless specified otherwise.

3. DSLS license with a .LICZ file. The DSLS license server installation instruction can be found: 2026 DSLS installation guide for Windows.
The third option Point to an existing DSLS-based license server system should be checked. Default port number is 4085.
