CST Studio Suite media is available on the DS media site https://software.3ds.com. This site requires you to login with your DS Passport. If you don't already have one, you can create one here. Once logged in, all licensed software will be available to you. What you see may look different to that shown in the following slides, but they should still provide guidance to get to the media.
Note that the license server does not need to be a powerful machine. It just needs to be on all the time to provide the license service to client machines for floating license configurations. The server machine does not require the full install of CST Studio Suite. It is however, possible to use the server to run CST Studio Suite if installed.
*For single seat configuration, the machine will host the license server and the full installation of CST Studio Suite.
*DSLS license server can be installed on a physical machine or virtual machines running Windows server 2019, 2022(at the time of writing) on which the Hyper-V role has to be added and a TPM 2.0 activated. For more information, please refer to the official DSLS Installation and Configuration Guide.
If you received a .LICZ license file for DSLS license server, you need to download the DSLS license server on the media download site.
Unzip the .zip
file to an appropriate location. Run SetupDSLSmsi.exe
as administrator.
Extract the content in the .zip file to an appropriate
location. Run SetupDSLSmsi.exe as administrator in the DS_LicenseServer
folder.
At the end of the installation, the License
Administration Tool should open automatically. It can also be accessed in the
Start Menu.
Click Servers à New...
Enter the name of the License Server and use the default port number 4084 and click OK.
Right-click on computer name and click "Connect“.
The Status icon should change to a colored one.
After license server is connected, enroll the license by pointing to the .LICZ file. After the license enrollment the list of features can be seen under the "Administration" tab, i.e. S2X and SRU.
*Note that the .LICZ file is based on Target ID, which can be obtained by running the DSLS target ID executable in the LICENSE KEY TOOLS section, available on https://www.3ds.com/terms/software-keys/
