QA00000100591_Using ‘cst_system_check’ tool available in CST Studio Suite installation on Linux

Question:
Is there any tool in the CST Studio Suite to create a report containing information about Linux system settings?

Answer:
In CST Studio Suite there is a tool 'cst_system_check' which you can use to create the system report that further helps to troubleshoot issues on Linux. This tool is available in the CST main installation folder in Linux:

"<CST_INSTALL_PATH>/cst_system_check"

This tool is very useful while troubleshooting the CST-related issues in Linux. Also run this tool after you install the CST Studio Suite or before you start any CST simulations. This tests whether all libraries and tools required to use the CST software are present on your system.

This tool provides the following options:

Check/install required libraries and tools
This option verifies whether all libraries and tools required by the CST STUDIO SUITE are installed on this system. This option also helps to install missing packages from the system repository. However, the install operation requires root permissions.

Create system report
This option creates a report containing information about system settings, which might be relevant for the correct operation of the CST STUDIO SUITE. This report is useful to troubleshoot the issues further.

This option creates a detailed report in .htm format in the user’s home directory. A file with a name ‘cst-system-report.htm’ gets created after using this option.

Check GPU computing setup
This option helps to verify the GPU computing setup by verifying the driver version, verifying GPU device files and also runs the HWAccDiagnostics.

Note: The user can also run the ‘HWAccDiagnostics_AMD64’ found in the LinuxAMD64 directory of the CST installation folder to verify the GPU computing setup.

Quit
This option exits from this tool.
